Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about viewing and removing photo metadata — privately, on your device.

Do my photos get uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens locally in your browser. Files never leave your device and are not sent to any server.
Will removing metadata affect image quality?
Image pixels are not changed. For JPEGs we strip metadata without re‑encoding when possible; for other formats we re‑encode via canvas with the same visual quality.
Which metadata do you remove?
EXIF (including GPS), IPTC, and most XMP blocks. Sensitive fields like GPS coordinates, device serials, and software tags are removed in the cleaned file.
Which file types are supported?
JPEG has first‑class, near‑lossless stripping. PNG/WebP and others are cleaned via safe re‑encode. HEIC/HEIF support depends on your browser.
Can I process multiple images at once?
Yes. Drag in multiple files and use “Remove All” to batch clean. You can also download everything as a ZIP in one click.
Does it work offline?
Yes. The app is a PWA. After the first load, you can use it offline on supported browsers.
Do you track or store any personal data?
By default, no. Optional, consent‑based analytics may load to improve the product. Ads are non‑intrusive and do not receive your images.
Is GPS location fully removed?
Yes. GPS tags (coordinates, altitude, related fields) are stripped from the cleaned image.
Is this tool free to use?
Yes. It’s free and runs entirely in your browser. Supporting us by sharing the site helps a lot.
Which browsers and devices are supported?
Modern Chromium, Firefox, and Safari on desktop and mobile. Very large images may be limited by your device memory.
